We investigate several means of coupling between a sonoluminescing bubble and an applied magnetic field. Recent experiments show a strong quadratic dependence between the forcing pressures required for stable sonolumines-cence and magnetic field amplitude. However, all coupling mechanisms calculated here are at most one percent perturbations. The most likely explanation is a sensitive hydrodynamic effect linked to a relatively small but characteristically inhomogeneous magnetically induced pressure on the bubble wall. We suggest experiments to test this effect.

The spatial distribution of the action and energy in the colour fields of flux-tubes is studied in lattice SU (2) field theory for static quarks at separations up to 1 fm at β = 2.4, 2.5. K-theory allows us to define an analytical condition for the existence of 'false' gauge field copies through the use of the Atiyah-Singer index theorem.
